Costa Rica vs Mexico, live stream 2017. Costa Rica vs. Mexico Predictions, Betting tips, and Live Stream: Ticos to hold off the in-form rivals
The two leaders in the CONCACAF qualifying group for the 2018 FIFA World Cup will go head-to-head on Tuesday, as Mexico and Costa Rica battle it out in their Hexagonal matchup. Ticos have been in great shape and although they’ve suffered a disappointing semi-finals loss to the USA in Gold Cup, Oscar Ramirez’s men have now returned the favour and come into this clash bursting with confidence. They’ve been a great home side and dropped just two points there this campaign (goalless draw to Panama in June) and we do feel they can build on the success.
El Tri have already qualified for next year’s tournament and currently lead Costa Rica by three points. The hosts have a six-point gap over the United States and Honduras and can book their ticket to Russia on Tuesday. Marcos Urena’s double on Friday gave Costa Rica a 2-0 win over the favoured United States side, setting the team up well for the final matches of the Hexagonal. Regardless of the result on Tuesday, the team seems destined to qualify for the World Cup as one of the three automatic qualifiers. Costa Rica welcomes Mexico south for a World Cup qualifier, as Los Ticos look to clinch a spot at Russia 2018.
Mexico have much better overall head-to-head records (22 wins, 12 draws, and just five losses in 39 games) and they’ve beaten their rivals 2-0 in their first clash this campaign. However, they usually have more troubles in Costa Rica and we do feel we’re in for another such occasion here.

Having lost to Costa Rica at home on Friday, Bruce Arena’s team are ahead of the Hondurans only on goal difference in the race for the third automatic qualification berth. Emilio Izaguirre was sent off for Honduras against Trinidad & Tobago, so Maynor Figueroa may have to slide over from centre-back to the left-hand side. United States have had a very solid CONCACAF Gold Cup run and they’ve won the silverware with an exciting 2-1 win over Jamaica, picking up their form and extending the 14-match unbeaten streak. However, returning to their World Cup Qualifiers campaign, they’ve failed to put on similar displays and travel to Honduras for their Matchday 8 clash in an unpredictable spell of form sitting 3rd with just eight points earned in seven games.
Having come off the bench after Izaguirre’s dismissal, Johnny Palacios is most likely to fill in alongside Henry Figueroa in the centre. USA have bagged four wins and a draw in their last five head-to-head encounters against Honduras but all of those occasions were in front of the home fans. Meanwhile, Honduras have beaten the rivals in their last home clash (2-1 back in 2013) and shown as very challenging on some of the more recent occasions, despite suffering a 6-0 loss earlier this year

Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips. Mexico could be the biggest challenge yet and they also come into the match motivated to seal the deal and secure the top spot. We’ll go for a 1-1 correct score prediction which now comes off as the best approach to the market for those keeping faith After a semi-finals exit in Gold Cup (0-1 loss to Jamaica), they’ve managed to bounce back and earn a narrow home win over Panama (1-0) which will surely be enough of a confidence booster.
Yet, despite this, scrutiny will continue to surround the polarizing Colombian who occasionally loves to rotate and experiment with his roster. Keeping in mind that El Tri already has a place secured set for the World Cup, it wouldn’t be a shock to see some changes from Osorio in the upcoming qualifying match against Costa Rica this Tuesday. The hosts will face a stern challenge against El Tri, however. Mexico are still unbeaten in the Hex, and while their attack hasn’t been in vintage form, their defensive record is superb, with just two goals conceded in seven matches.
Most importantly, if Osorio does provide opportunities for some backup players, the clash against Costa Rica will provide much-needed starts for bench options who are still vying for key roles. With a little over nine months to go until Russia 2018, Osorio will soon need to weed out those who won’t make the cut for next summer. With a World Cup ticket already in the bag, Osorio may opt to give his younger players some more minutes, although he’s not expected to shake things up completely.
