Delaware vs Virginia Tech Livered

VTScoop Analyst Matej Sis discusses three important keys to success he would like to see from Virginia Tech when they take on Delaware. While Virginia Tech is the heavily favored team at home, there are several facets of their football team they can improve by executing these three keys to the game. It was a group effort when the Hokies finished with 234 rushing yards in the opener against West Virginia, with quarterback Josh Jackson leading the way with 101 yards. Good things happen when #17 dials up #5. Phillips either made a big play, drew a flag or attracted a double team. This opens up the offense for Virginia Tech and is a major advantage they need to abuse.

The Hokies are coming off a neutral site win for the ages. After struggling in nationally televised games towards the end of Beamer’s tenure (especially at the cursed FedEx Field), Fuente and Co. broke the curse in a renewed rivalry against the Mountaineers. Despite the fact that Delaware is a solid team, they just don’t have as much talent as the Hokies. They don’t have a very strong quarterback, and the Hokies defense is coming off of a bad performance.

Usually, Bud Foster doesn’t turn in two of those type performances in a row. Expect the LPD to shut down the Blue Hens. Being around campus, this is certainly the most fired up I’ve seen the fan base in a long time. Not since the Tyrod Taylor era have people talked about the Hokies competing on the national stage.
